Babylon Five Ident Card

This prop is seen in numerous episodes of Babylon Five.

From start to finish, this project took about six months. Actual time spent was probably something like 12 - 15 hours to get my first prototype ready.

The top two pictures are of the card that I made. The bottom two are pictures of the card that was recently auctioned off on e-bay.

My pictures were made by laying the card down on a scanner, and the colors really did not come through very well. It's actually much closer to the original in real life. I SWEAR!!!

Also, please note that the pictures are not to scale. My card looks a little bigger, but it's really not. I based the measurements off the measurements that were given with the auction, so it's legit.

The main graphic on the front was made in adobe illustrator using a great EPS file of the B5 logo supplied by Lowell Gilbert. The font on the front is a modified Helvetica. The main pink rectangle is all printed as one piece, using the same technique I use for my tricorder and LCARS graphics. There is also a strip of silver vinyl, and a strip of black vinyl on the front. The small knot pattern in the lower corner was drawn in adobe illustrator also, and was printed on my inkjet printer onto transparent adhesive stock. (Hard to find stuff, I tell ya!)

The back side was also made in adobe illustrator, and printed using the same techniques as mentioned above. The font I used is a shareware font that can be found for free all over the internet.
