Batman '89 Gloves

As seen in the Tim Burton film "Batman".

These were customized by a local tailor, so I'm not sure how long they took to make.

I acquired these in 1990.

Here's a fun little trip down memory lane. These are gloves that I put together for my very first Batman costume. Thought this costume is no longer in existence, the gloves and cape remain.

These gloves are based on the ThunderWear brand gloves that were used for the screen used gloves. Back in the early 1990's, the company was still in business, and their gloves could be found at almost any moto-cross supply store. They made them in tons of different colors, and many different styles. I managed to find a style that was extremely close to the screen used gloves. The only difference was that they did not have the suede palm, nor the brass studs. The gauntlets were also shorter. So, I had a local she shop add on the gauntlets, palm and rivets.

Ultimately, the craftsmanship was pretty poor, and I was never satisfied with the gloves. They turned out pretty decent, but by todays standards, they are quite sub-par. I never got around to adding on the fins or the wrist guards, mainly because I wanted to be able to wear the gloves under a jacket. (which I never did, mind you)

Anyhow, I think these are pretty neat because they demonstrate that I've been doing this wacky business for at least twelve years now. Too bad I'm no saner because of it.
