This is an original of the often knocked off SDS Batarang. Interesting story behind this piece. Years ago, two batarangs were on the block for purchase. There was a Batman Returns batarang, and this 89 batarang. I acquired the Returns batarang, but missed this one. Now, three years later, it is in my collection. Patience pays off, I guess. From what I understand about this piece, it was scratch built by a very talented prop maker in PA using photos from the hero batarang that was used in the movie. If I recall correctly, the original was on display in Japan, where a collector took tons of detailed photos of it. Of all the batarang replicas out there, most of them are copied from this source. As I acquired it second hand from the original maker, I'm confident that this is the highest possible generation. It is painted semi-gloss black, with chrome tips. It does not fold.
