I purchased this online from a trustworthy fellow who was under the impression that this was a piece from the now defunct "ICONS". Though I totally trust the person who sold me the piece, I believe that the person supplying him with props is either misinformed, or being dishonest.
I managed to have a conversation with numerous ex-ICONS employees who confirm for me with 100% certainty that ICONS never produced this item, nor did the prototype it.
I was lead to believe that this piece is an ICONS prototype.
As it turns out, it's actually a really nice piece, despite it's questionable provenance. It's the nicest build up I've ever seen or had of this batarang, so despite it's history, I'm still very happy with this piece.
The pictures do not lie, and it is indeed a dark metallic grey in color. I'm not certain what color it was on film, though I hope to be able to ascertain that detail some day soon.
