This is the screen used Mangalore bomb that was used in the Fhloston Paradise scenes near the end of The Fifth Element. Quite simply, this piece kicks major ass.
There’s actually quite a good story behind the acquisition of this prop. Too many details to write them all down, but let’s just say that this prop is now in my possession due to a non stop campaign of badgering and bothering! The original owner was quite happy with it, but I would put a bug in his ear about selling it once every five or six months. After three years of my water-drip-torture, he caved in and let the piece go. I’m sure there was a lot more to it than that, but I don’t care. I’m just happy that this piece has finally come home.
It’s a beautiful piece, and yes, it lights up. It does not explode however. The main body is all custom machined, as are the spikes that come out of the sides. The holster appears to be a stainless steel tube. The bomb spikes retract to fit inside it.
So far, this is the coolest Fifth Element piece in my collection. I know I’ve said that before, but this time I mean it.
