This is my latest "Made for production" piece from "The Fifth Element". Though this graphic saw no screen time, it is a
very valuable piece to me for reference purposes. There were many "secrets" of the pass graphics that were revealed to
me from this piece, and I'm really quite lucky to have it in my collection.
Thanks to all of the folks who e-mailed me and informed me that the piece was for sale. I appreciate it!
I have decided not to post pictures of the back side of the pass until I can incorporate the new discoveries into my
own pass graphics that I am using on my pass project.
Update! Dec 28, 2004
I was recently reading over my copy of "The Story of The Fifth Element" and uncovered an interesting piece
of trivia which relates directly to this piece. As you may or may not know, the aforementioned book chronicles
the making of the movie from its initial idea 25+ years ago to its final day of filming. It turns out that
the character we came to know and love as "Korben Dallas" was originally named "Zaltman Bleros". As you can see
from the graphic I have, this is the name printed here.
So, what does this mean? I don't really know. It could be that one of the prop makers knew of the history of
the script, and decided to put together a little "in" joke for the crew? It could be that this is a pre-production
piece that was made before Luc Besson changed the name of the character? Who knows. There's a million possible
explanations. There's a chance that the actor pictured on the pass is a French actor that was originally cast
to play the role of Zaltman/Korben. Notice that the stats listed on the multipass are nowhere near accurate to
Bruce WIllis. Who knows.
