Fifth Element MultiPass Tutorial

When I first had a pass cut, there was an error in it. This error stuck around for a few samples, but was fixed later on. This set of instructions is only necessary if the kit in question has this error.

Basically, the hole that is cut out for the stepped styrene is too small. It's not tall enough. If you hold the top plate over the mid plate, the rectangular hole should extend UNDER the top plate. When examining the plate with the error, the rectangular opening stops at the lip of the top plate. This makes it so that the stepped styren does not have a ledge to fit into.

One could probably get away with ignoring this step, even if the error is there, but I include this for the sake of completion.

First thing I did was mark the piece I need to cut. I just eyeballed it. I want to remove about an extra 1/8" from the opening. It's really not important if you do more or less than this. The only thing that matters is that you take some styrene off the top, and try to get the edges of the rectangle to line up. Even that part isn't super important.
I used an exacto without a straight edge to cut the piece out. You could use a dremel, a file, a razor blade, or whatever. Precision is not important.
Here's the final product.
Do not glue yet!

To illustrate how it looks when finished, I've placed the midplate on top of the back plate. Here you can see how there is now a little shelf at the top of the opening. This will come in handy when attaching the stepped styrene to the body.
