Walther P-99 (Airsoft version)

This is the gun used by James Bond starting with Tomorrow Never Dies.

I purchased this from e-bay.

This is a nice little piece that I purchased off e-bay for under 100 bucks. It's NOT a real gun, but is an airsoft version of the original Walther P-99. Ever since I saw Tomorrow Never Dies, I've wanted one of these. I think its the neatest looking gun I've ever seen, and I'm not really into guns at all. Still, its a James Bond piece, so I figured I'd jump on it.

I originally wanted to get the Marui version of this airsoft, as it had gotten great reviews, but I found that they were getting harder and harder to get, so I figured I'd try another avenue, and headed for e-bay. Had I seen this pistol in person, I would not have purchased it. The walther name appears no where on the gun, nor does the model number. It's VERY light, and definately has a plastic look to it.

It's redeeming factor is that it shoots stuff! I really like the gas blowback function. I think that makes it look and feel much more realistic. Just like a real gun, when you shoot the last round, it sticks open. Pretty neat, and very well engineered.

However, since I'm primarily going to be using this as a display piece, it really makes little difference that it actually does anything. A friend of mine has a spring firing version of this gun that has all of the correct markings. The draw back is that it doesn't have blowback, or make a cool noise when firing. Still, it probably cost half as much as mine. oh well. Live and learn. I do like the way the magazine drops out and snaps in. Very "Real" feeling.

If I ever get around to purchasing an Airsoft Walther PPK, I will go strictly for looks.

When I got this gun, it had the orange spray paint on the tip. I soaked the tip of the gun in Pine Sol for about 20 minutes, after which, the orange paint came right off.
