Sting

As seen in "The Fellowship of the Ring"

I purchased this online.

Date added to collection: Feb 2003.

This is the licensed sword put out by United Cutlery in celebration of the release of the Peter Jackson film "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring".

This sword has also appeard in "The Two Towers", and I'm sure it will appear in "The Return of The King".

For the price, this is a very nice mass produced sword. I really know nothing about swords, so I'm in no position to comment on its weight, balance, composition, tang, or anything like that. What I can tell you is that I think this is a cool piece. The engraving is all done very well, though it is a bit uneven in places. I don't know if it was scribed after the blad was made, or if the engraving is part of the pour. Like I said, I have no idea how these darn things are made.

There is another Sting sword made by The Noble Collection, however it is scaled to human size. The UC version is "accurate" to the screen. That is to say, if a hobbit were to hold it, it would seem to be the same size as the one in Frodo's hand, if you know what I mean.

I got this sword from a fellow collector who unloaded it along with his Jens Hansen "One ring" for a great price. Thanks a million! It's a great piece. It's also the first sword I own. I hope to not cleave my head off accidentally.
