Robocop Auto-9

From Robocop I, II and III

This was acquired through Monsters In Motion, and Japan.

Funny story behind this piece, where the theme is "When it rains, it pours".

This is a piece I have wanted since the first Robocop movie came out. It's a great sci-fi flic with all kinds of great stuff going on in it. The gun is awesome. When I worked at a Comic book store in high school, the store owner had one of his marine buddies pick one of these up when he was in Japan. He used to run around the store shooting us. At that time, I was in a real predicament, because I knew the guns existed, but I didn't know how to get one.

I've essentially had my eyes open for one of these ever since, and that was more than 10 years ago.

As luck would have it, I do a little web consulting work on the side. A lot of times, I'll work on someones page in exchange for a prop, or something. Well, a friend of mine hooked me up with a dude named Gary Barth, who produces the unbelievably cool MovieFXMagazine. The dude who was working on his site wasn't doing updates, so he asked me to take over. I volunteered to help. After doing updates for about a year, Gary was kind enough to ask if there was anything I wanted from Japan, as he was planning on going there soon. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity, and asked him to get me the Robocop gun.

Meanwhile, my old pal Terry at Monsters In Motion got in touch with me and asked if I would help him with some issues he was having with his website. Of course, I volunteered. Terry had been burned a couple times in the past with Web dudes charging outrageous prices for no results, so I figured I'd play it different and just ask for some product. After looking over everything they had, the thing that caught my eye the most was... you guessed it, the Robocop Auto-9! I figured I would burn the candle from both ends. If Gary wasn't able to get ahold of one of them from Japan, then I would have one from Terry.

So I did the work for Terry, and he handed over the gun, and I was happy. Then, like a week later, the one from Gary showed up on my doorstep! OY!

Kinda weird, but I'm really glad I finally got ahold of one of them. this gun is great! It's a gas blowback model, which means that when you pull the trigger, the reciever of the gun snaps back just like a real gun. It's got two firing modes, single shot and full automatic. The full auto blows through BB's super fast. It's great! Thanks Terry and Gary!
