Fremen Krys Knife

As seen in the David Lynch movie "Dune"

This was given to me as a gift.

This piece is too cool! Not only is it VERY well finished, but the back story is quite interesting.

For many years, the only access collectors had to a Krys Knife from Dune was the fine Greyzon replica. Though a nice piece, it turned out to be quite inaccurate. How do I know this? Turns out, a friend of a friend was vacationing in Mexico and stumbled onto some of the filming locations for the Lynch movie. While wandering around, he found in the sand a beaten up resin Krys Knife!

Initially, collectors were skeptical about the knife, as it had what seemed to be an odd curve to it. Collectors had grown accustomed to the Greyzon interpretation of the piece, which had it flat. Research revealed that the knife carried by Paul did indeed have the tell tale curve to it, adding credibility to the "found in the sand" story behind the knife.

Sadly, the person who found the knife decided to take some creative license with it and sanded down the tail end of the pommel. Why? I have no idea, but the damage was done. This remained unchanged until the piece fell into the hands of a good friend and talented artist, Tim Arp. Tim took the knife and reconstructed the tail end. Tim then developed a painting technique for the knife that included a number of different colors and types of paints, applied in a myriad of ways. The final result is stunning. It truly does look like carved bone. A fantastic piece that I am very proud to have in my collection, not only because of my love for the movie, but because of the immense talent that went into completing the piece, and the crazy story behind it.
