I don’t know what inspired me to make this, but I was sitting around one weekend and had the idea of making a replica of the photo that is spit out of the “information” booth in Dulok. It’s one of the funnier gags in the movie, and since there aren’t a whole lot of Shrek props out there, I thought I would tackle it. I used some screen capture software to get a really nice shot of the picture, then took it into Photoshop where I bumped up the resolution, straightened it out, and did some clean up on it. For a quick and dirty prop, it turned out really great. I printed it straight out on my inkjet printer, and then coated it with some ultra-wide packing tape. Looks great. I had kicked around the idea of putting the print out in an actual Polaroid, but from the movie, it’s not entirely clear that it’s meant to be a Polaroid. Obviously, the inspiration is from that source, but the photo looks completely flat in the movie. I chose to keep it that way. I’m really happy with this little oddball prop. I think it turned out great.
