As Seen In:    Numerous first season episodes of TNG
Time Spent:    None. I got this from a convention.
Date Added:    1990?

This may be one of the oldest pieces in my collection. This is one of the first prop replicas I ever purchased, second only to the infamous Marco tricorder. I picked this up at a creation convention at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton when I was still in high school. So sometime before 1989.

The piece originally had the standard “Beam” and “Int” stickers in the button wells, and a green fake looking bar graph sticker on top. There was also a piece of electrical tape where the emitter was. Like so many of my other purchases, I was unhappy with it initially, and decided to accurize it. I peeled off the stickers, and started sanding down the seam.

Then I lost interest in it, and here we are 15 years later and it’s still not done! WOOHOO! Way to see a project through, Munson.

I don’t know the lineage of this particular piece, but I don’t believe it to be cast off an original. It’s a very common sculpt that has been making the rounds for years now.

For me, it’s little more than a reminder of the convention, and the fact that I’m a total slacker.
