The piece was painted using the correct Plasti-Kote and Krylon paints that were used to paint the props used in the show. Sadly, as of this writing, Plasti-Kote paints are becoming increasingly difficult to find, making the production of this piece even more cool.
This is indeed cast off a made for production piece, so this is (as usual) about as close as I need to get to the real thing without forking out the big bucks. This piece falls squarely into the realm of Trek Obscurata, as it was only used/seen in one episode, to my knowledge. It's a very beautifully designed piece, and certainly has a very Bajoran feel to it.
