Yup, this is pretty much it. The pinnacle of Enterprise props, in my mind. From what I am told, four scanners were made for the series, most of which broke a number of times during the run of the show. By the time the fourth season rolled around, this was the only functional scanner left.
The body of the scanner is made out of vacuum formed plastic. The side grips are made of rigid rubber. When you squeeze the size grips, the top pops up and the scanner turns on. No sound, but the screen does light up.
Even though I was never really in love with Enterprise, I do think the props for the show were pretty cool. There are a number of resin copies of the scanner out there, and only recently did someone produce a nice working, pop up model.
