Not a whole lot of info to give on this piece. I do know that it is a fan made piece,
and I'm told that it was made using only a few screen captures from the pilot episode.
Based on that alone, it's a frickin' nice piece. It's got a few machined aluminum
parts, and employs the proper paint codes.
Compared to the real deal, this one is a little more squared off in the body, but that
would have been a detail impossible to discern from the limited resources available at
the time of its construction.
The maker did seem to get the handle dead on. The profile of the unit is very close to the
real props. I was (and still remain) very impressed with this effort.
Here's the clincher: SOME FOLKS believe this to be a genuine screen used prop, or a "straight
from the studio molds" deal. I'm not talking about this very item, but others from the same
run. Stories are being shipped with this replica that it is the real deal. I can say with
absolute 100% certainty that this is a fan made replica. It's a beautiful piece, and I love
it to death, but it is a replica. Sorry kids.
