I did some experimentation with technique on a few different padd kits to see which worked best. I did a few different tests on painting styles, and graphic presentations. Some of my graphics were printed on pressure sensitive adhesive paper, others were printed on photo paper and lined with chartpak. There are advantages and drawbacks to each technique.
The graphic featured on this padd is the "Plasma Constriction Map", a very common screen graphic from the bridge of Voyager. This particular graphic was drawn by me a few years ago based on screen captures from the CD-Rom "The Captians Chair".
These graphics were printed by me on my HP printer using high quality photographic paper. I then coated them with a layer of chartpak to give it a nice, dull finish. This is a bit more accurate to how they would look on screen, though I didn't bother painting the midplate of the padd the proper grey color. No big deal though, as I think it looks pretty sharp.
