For those of you who are living under a rock, it turns out that the Star Wars prequels kinda suck. What does this have to do with this helmet? Well, I’ll tell you.

When Episode I was released, the collector market was flooded with products. If you went to a store, pretty much every product in the place had some kind of Star Wars tie in. You go, George! So while George was busy counting all the money he was making of licensing deals, I guess he was distracted from his writing and directing duties, and produced a crappy movie. Oh well. What does this have to do with this helmet? Well, I’ll tell you.

Everyone and their mother (including George Lucas) thought they were going to get rich by selling products that were Star Wars tie-ins. My local hobby shop was no exception. They stocked up on lame model kits, dopey kites, and cheap ass helmet replicas. When the bottom fell out of the market, they had to mark all their stuff down.

When I walked into the store, they had this Biker Scout helmet and a Tie Fighter Pilot helmet marked down to twenty bucks each. This was down from sixty or something. I grabbed both and haggled with the guys, getting them to sell them for fifteen each with no tax. Good deal!

So now I have a pretty deformed Don Post Biker Scout helmet in my collection. Oh well. For what it is, it’s a nice piece. I have been told that it’s wildly inaccurate. But you know what??? It looks like a Biker Scout helmet to me.
