Today wasn't really an R2 building day, but was an R2 parts collection day! When living in San Francisco, I had all my parts shipped to my PO box up there. When I moved, there were still a few parts in transit to that box, so I had to go up there every now and again to pick up the parts that I missed. I took a road trip with my girlfriend up there to not only pick up the remaining parts, but also to have some fun around the city.
So here's me and the lovely droid-lovin' lady next to the Golden Gate Bridge. We spent about 8 hours walking around town, and even crossed the bridge on foot. It was really a great time.
And of course, no visit to San Francisco is complete without a visit to everyone's favorite Mythbuster, Adam Savage. Adam and I talked R2, Africa, Millenium Falcon, and some other nerdy stuff before heading off for our separate adventures.
But let's talk turkey! Here's the parts I picked up from my PO box!! First up is droidstuff.coms dome bumps!
Waterset inner and outer diets. Beautifully made. They look amazing. Thanks Tom!
Finally, a front logic display surround. Still not sure if I'm going to use this, as I want my surrounds to be consistent, and I've already got the resin ones painted and ready to go. We shall see.
Lori and I also made a trip out to Alcatraz, which was really fun.
Best of all, after "The Rock" we walked down to Fisherman's Wharf where Lori spotted one of the US Postal Service R2-D2 post boxes. Too cool! I had never seen one in person, so it was cool to finally meed one.
So there you have it. A great day in the bay with some R2 parts thrown in for good measure. At this time, I now have ALL of the parts needed to complete my droid. Whew.
