Links - Still under construction

What web site is complete without the obligatory links page? I'll try to make this one useful, and list places that I've either used personally, or thoroughly endorse.

Endorsed websites.
This is a list of suppliers, vendors, or knowledge holders that I personally endorse. I've either purchased things from them, or gotten excellent assistance from them directly.

  • Droid Stuff.
Excellent source for aluminum droid parts. Daniel is very knowledgeable and helpful, and makes an assortment of amazing products.
  • Rage Battery.
I purchased all of my SLA (Sealed Led Acid) batteries from here. Good customer service, and excellent products. They ship quickly too.
  • Plastruct.
Good source for plastics, including styrene and ABS.
  • Mouser Electronics.
Excellent source for electronic components. LEDs, wiring, soldering equipment, circuit boards, stuff like that. They also carry some neato educational kits that can come in handy if you're looking to make a home grown solution.
  • CF Sound III.
This is a direct link to ACS, the folks that bring you a powerful and flexible sound system that many R2 builders use to make their R2 talk by remote control.
  • Vantec.
Makers of fine radio controllers. You'll probably end up buying from a reseller, like a local hobby store, but this page has lots of great information on the products they offer.
  • Robot Marketplace.
A great resource for robot components. This is where I got my motor controllers from. Both for the body, and the dome.
  • Parts listing at Astromech.net
Your starting point for collecting council approved astromech droid parts.
  • West Marine circuit breaker page.
  • Hyperdine Electronics.
Jim Shima makes some great electronic components that can really add life to your R2.
  • Ditchek.
These are the guys that supplied me with the Maxim adhesive that I rave about all throughout this blog. Here's a link directly to the product page for that stuff.
  • Amazon.
This is where I buy all of my plasti-kote primer, including the self etching stuff.
  • Audacity Home Page.
A great little tool for editing sound files that you might use on your R2. Free!
  • Glisten PC / POR 15.
A clear coat product designed specifically for metals and aluminum. Great for the dome, or any other bare, exposed metal you might have on your droid. Ankle details, boosters, ankle bracelets, vents, you get the idea.
Endorsed Sellers.
This is a brief list of people that I have had good dealings with. To get into this category, you're usually knowledgeable, a fast shipper, good at answer questions, deal in quality product, and are great to deal with. Just because someone is NOT on this list does not mean that they aren't all of the above. I simply may not have dealt with them on this project.
  • Tom Doucett
  • Daniel Deutche
  • Jerry Green
  • Jim Shima
