Empoli is a city/town I've actually been to a number of times before, but just never had a chance to document. Whenver I come in to Siena or Pieve, Empoli is my transfer train station. This trip, I had the good fortune of having a one hour delay between trains, so I used the opportunity to explore the town.

It's actually very similar to a number of the small towns I visited while in the south of France. The main difference is that everything is in Italian instead of French. But the vibe and feel is very similar.

The train station itself.

This is a small park just across the street from the train station. I think I spun around from taking the picture of the station to take this one.

This looks to me like it's the town square or something. They're all about the statues here in Italy.

This is just an interesting little side street I found. Very typical of this town, and the area in general.
