No trip to Tuscany would be complete without a day trip to Siena to take in the sights. Recall that my foot was still pretty trashed during this time, so it was pretty much a giant pain getting around. Still, it was good to see the old 'hood again. I was very pleased to see that the best Gelateria in town had re-opened, and with a full makeover. That was cool. I got to pay a visit to my old neighborhood gelateria, the kopacabana, which was totally great. The weather held up, but it was touch and go there for a while.
More Siena pictures can be found here and here.

Nothing says "italian" like a giant pizza with the name of your city in it. Odd, as the pizza was actually invented by the French. Common misunderstanding, but considering how little France has contributed to the world, it comes as no surprise that we have a hard time stomaching the idea that they created something as great as the pizza.

Here's a little sign on the wall noting my old contrade. Ah, memories.

And just like in Colle Val D'Elsa, all the stuff in the grocery store is in another language! Who knew? But it's bad enough that it's in another language, they have products over there that we have never heard of. Similarly, they don't have half of the stuff that we take for granted. Squeezable Mayo anyone???

Matt Munson trying to find a place to tie up his horse. Always makes my head spin to think that the knob I'm grabbing in this photo has probably been there for a few hundred years. Weird.
