This isn't exactly a travel destination for me, but I like to head down to the beach every time I'm about to travel domestically. Somehow, it makes me feel centered, if I could ever feel such a thing. I don't know what it is. But there's something very soothing and calming about a quiet walk on the beach. It just so happens that it was incredibly warm this day, probably in the low eighties. So consider this a "soak in the sun" kind of moment for me. I desperately needed it too, as I would find myself in sub-zero temperatures the next day. You know, in Ohio.

This is a veiw from the street above the beach, where you can clearly see the world famous surfing spot "The Wedge" just below the waterline. That is a place where the waves come crashing into the breakwater at an angle, causing some really mean surf. Someone dies there pretty much ever year.

Regular readers will recognize this beach as the place where I do my triathlon training in the summer and fall. Coincidentally, this is also where I learned to scuba dive.

A southbound view of the beach from the road. You can see a lot of the swanky houses just down the coast. Pretty nice.

This is a new beach for me, just past the southern bend shown in the previous picture. This was the first time I had ever been there, and it's pretty nice. While not ACTUALLY a private beach, it may as well be. There's a little gated sidewalk that leads up into the super-posh neighborhood just behind it.
