One of the best adventures I had this trip was a 13 mile hike I did from Pieve over to San Gimignano. I've been to this town numerous times in the past, but I had never hiked there! I started off at about six AM, and arrived at about six PM. Now, that's a really long time to hike only 12 miles. But along the way, I was taking loads of pictures, resting, enjoying the sights... and I even managed to get lost a couple of times. Maybe "spun around" is a better term, since I always SORTA knew where I was. Either way, it was an amazing day. Though it ended with sore feet, it was well worth the price!

One of my favorite pictures from the entire trip. This is a field of sunflowers I passed when I was nearing the city. As I am fond of saying, the great thing about italy is that it's hard to take a bad photo.

There is my destination, off on the horizon. By now, the hike is actually almost done. When I started out, the city was nothing more than a tiny speck on the distant horizon.

Inside the city, this is the center of town. There's a fantastic little gelateria just off to the right of this photo.

They were having some kind of world heritage day in San Gimignano that day. I didn't stick around to see it, as my feet were completely tired out by then. All I wanted to do was get back home at that point.

This was the tower I was following all day long. From the very start of the hike, I could see this off in the distance. It was very rewarding to finally find myself at the foot of it after such a long day.
