July, 2009

I was actually just passing through here, but since I WAS in Siena, I thought it only fair to include this in my travel page. This was the first leg of my short trip to Rome. I took a bus from Colle Val D'Elsa into Siena, then walked over the train station, and from there made my way to Rome. It's always really nice to go back to Siena, probably because I lived there for a while, which had always been a dream of mine. And by "always", I mean I came up with the idea in about 2006. The city is just as beautiful as it always was, and I get a strange sense of pride knowing that I can navigate the city like a native, and still know where to find the best Gelato.

A very typical street inside the walled city, filled with pedestrians and delivery vehicles.

Inside the Piazza Del Campo. This is where the run il Palio twice every year. Something you need to see to believe.

At the Siena train station, heading south to Rome.
