While I was in England, I had the opportunity to participate in an ATG Saturday Walk. This particular one took place in Woodstock. The idea behind these walks is that they give people a chance to participate in the ATG experience without having to fly to another country, or fork out a few bucks. Though it was a bit cold for my tastes, it warmed up once we got moving, and it turned out to be a really fun and interesting experience.

One of the three churches we stopped at along the way for a little history lesson.

Good ol' British countryside. This is actually on the grounds of Blenheim Palace, a super cool and amazing estate in the middle of Woodstock.

After a REALLY long day of walking and cavorting, I found myself back in downtown Oxford, where I did something VERY uncharacteristic, and had dinner from the English equivalent of a roach coach. I had a chicken kabab, and it was totally amazing. I totally went native on this one, and ate it as I walked back to the house. It was super delicious, and I believe I will have one again next time I visit.

Speaking of Blenheim Palace, here it is. The walk did not take us inside, though this was about as close as we got. Still, might make for an agenda item on my next trip.

Probably the coolest part of the trip for me was visiting the remains of a Roman Villa on the grounds of the palace. Obviously, there's not much left of it, but it was really amazing to think that so many years ago, the Roman empire stretched all the way up to Woodstock. There was probably some rich dude living there, running his little fiefdom. Makes my head spin.

The little house looking structure at the back is where they keep a mosaic floor that they uncovered, along with a few other intersting artifacts found on the site.
