Well, never let it be said that when duty calls, Matt Munson doesn't answer. This little adventure to Barcelona came upon me very quickly. I was actually out hiking in the Cevennes (in France, mind you) when a text came through on my mobile (that's what they call cell phones in Europe. Buncha weirdos over here, I swear) that said something like "Plans have changed. Pick up in Carbassa at 3:45". I knew Carbassa was ahead of me by a couple of hours, but I thought I was heading for Millau. Oh well.

So I get to Carbassa, to find a car waiting. Driver tells me I have to go to Barcelona... right away. I get back home, pick up a tooth brush and hop in a van. A couple hours later I meet a girl named Claudine in a town called Beziers to pick up some supplies, and then I'm off to Spain. I arrive in Barcelona at about 2:00 in the morning. Too late to get a hotel room, so I just pull off the motorway, park in a layby, and set up my sleeping bag in the back of the van. Now THIS is adventure!!!

Next day I meet my contacts at the Barcelona airport, help them out with a few things, and get underway back to France. Because of a few days, I ended up in Montpellier again, where I spent the night in a tiny hotel. Totally great fun, but it kind of screwed up my plans and made me late for work the next day. It's REALLY disturbing how many holidays they take around here, and how Europe closes on Sunday. Oh well.

Global adventurer and last minute traveller, Matt Munson reporting in for duty.

I have NO idea what the hell this is supposed to be, but it was smack dab in the middle of the airport. Maybe a trojan horse?

The train station. Woohoo. Or should I say "Choo choo".

Just your average, run of the mill street in Barcelona. Not a very spectacular city, at least the parts I saw. Then again, I was really only there for a few hours, but ain't that always the way these things seem to go.

I thought this was a pretty cool looking building. This was just down some side street, where they were coincidentally having a street fair that day.
