An entirely different kind of castle, this renaissance building is now most famous as having been the home of the American singer Josephine Baker. I'm not really a fan of hers, but I do love castles! This one was neat, but in a weird sort of way. The inside was sort of a mix between a chateau tour, a memorobelia museum, and a rip off. The inside was sort of modernized, but it stopped at the 1930's. Don't get me wrong, it's really great, just not as cool as Castlenaud, which is a contemporary of this. Well, sort of. Chateau Des Milandes was built as "comfortable housing" for the folks that were running Castlenaud, but only after it had been in existence for a couple hundred years.

On approach to the castle. Very nice and "Fairy Tale".

This shows one of the stair wells and window turrets that can be found around the chateau. I prefer the round ones myself.

From the back side (yeah, you read that right), this is where we saw a quasi-interesting falconry display. Seemed kind of out of place with all the Josephine Baker stuff, but who's counting?

Another view, this time I was heading into the house to take the tour. WoohooO! No photos allowed inside though. Probably because half of the pictures of JB adorning the walls were of her in her birthday suit. All that for only five euros! Top that, Disney!!!
